Geraldml reacted to Mike at BrashMonkey in TroubleShooting (look here if you are having an issue with Spriter!)
I recommend you zip up your Spriter project and send it to mail@brashmonkey.com so we can take a look at it. Ideally, a screen recording showing the initial key-frame before it gets "corrupted", then you making changes to a later key-frame, and then the resulting change to the initial key-frame.

Is there a key frame for the things that are getting changed in the first place (there usually is) or are they missing? Do you know how to expand the timeline window to expose the key frames for each specific object?

    Thanks for the explanation Mike.
Which format should I be using if I am going to work on both Windows and Mac?
The project was old. I'll have to check the date, but I just needed to export individual sprites to import into C3 since I'm having issues with the plugin. The problem was that the animation was different in the scon from the scml. I must have edited one of the files and not the other.
If I have to use the two file types, is it possible to have the files sync with each other?

Geraldml reacted to KENYONB in scon vs scml ???
The animation doesn't look correct in Spriter on Windows and when exported from Windows.
Also, it is just the SCML file. The SCON looks correct on both Windows and Mac.
I have tried re-saving from the SCON on Mac as SCML, then opening on Windows and it is still incorrect.
Adding an additional keyframe to the little star when to the right did not fix it. It just made it rotate.

I downloaded the new plugin, tried to re-import, and got the same error:

...and same error in the console.

I just followed instructions and imported into C3 and it seems to work with a few issues...
As others have noted, I can't see the character in the editor. just the empty scml square sprite. is it possible to see the character in the editor?
The animation is HUGE! How can I have it set to proper scale automatically? resizing the empty sprite doesn't correspond with the bounding box size.

It's a good idea to report this on the github page for Spriter2Unity so any active developer can look into it and hopefully resolve this issue if possible. Thanks very much for researching/experimenting and finding a work-around.. not only is this likely helpful to others, this info might also make fixing this error much easier on the Spriter2Unity side.
    cheers.

Sorry for seeing this thread late. My best guess is you were getting confused between default pivot point, which is what you need to be consistent for character maps to work, and just changing an images current pivot point in the timeline of an animation on any given key-frame, but this is just a guess.

    Hi
We seem to be seeing issues whereby we have added an event to the end of a spriter animation. For some reason in low frame rate cases, the event is never triggered. In our case, we are looping the animation. Are you aware of this, and is there any way around it?
    Thanks

    MacOs 10.12.6 / Macbook Pro 15" 2.3Ghz (Late 2013)
    Steam Store version.
    First Issue:
I'm getting frequent crashes (Quit Unexpectedly) on my machine making things very difficult to work with. Seems to be intermittent too.
Intermittent crash when I open a project (namely the Female gun character from your Run n Gun pack) - Actually, as a side note, it complains that there are missing images when I load this. Missing images on other characters too. I assumed this was normal? Intermittent crash when dragging CharMaps from Available to Active. (See Crash Log, attached). Second issue:
The app always opens using the entire desktop area. It never remembers the size of the window when you change it and quit. Very annoying, as I'm using an Ultrawide monitor! Window size should really be saved for the next time you open, like all other apps.
Hope this helps and looking forward to a fix or a workaround!

Geraldml reacted to lucid in Spriter Awesome Boss Contest! $1000 Grand Prize! Official Rules
First off, this could have all been avoided had we heeded the community's warnings against Like-based voting, specifically relating to how easy it is to manipulate and abuse the system.  We hope we can all agree that getting the contest back on track to a system where the art can be judged based solely on its merits is ideal for everyone.  We've actually lined up some fantastic artists and animators who are willing to judge the contest and are not privy to this current mess of a situation.
When the situation was first brought to our attention for a specific user, when we went to verify, we ended up seeing another user's submission on the site.  Had we waited another five minutes, or logged in five minutes earlier, it's likely we wouldn't have seen the second video, or maybe we would have seen a third.  As has been covered in the thread already, it's possible for anyone to submit any video to KingdomLikes, and without turning this community into a crime scene investigation, it would be impossible to figure out who is abusing the system and how.  I'm sure KingdomLikes is not the only way to unfairly generate additional likes.  For this reason, we think it would be unfair to disqualify any specific participant(s) when we can't prove wrongdoing, and we would potentially be benefitting another abuser of the system who simply wasn't caught.
The best solution is to switch to a system that can't be abused and where any potential current or previous abuse is irrelevant.
    Here is what we propose:
The contest will be judged by three judges with game industry and animation experience. So far, we have two awesome judges lined up - Nick Wozniak (Artist on Shovel Knight (http://store.steampowered.com/app/250760/)), and Nathan Lavato (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gdquest/game-art-quest-make-professional-2d-art-with-krita/description).   We're currently working on a third.   Edit:  We have our third judge: Louice Adler, concept and graphic artist at Tripwire Interactive (creators of Killing Floor) In order to give an opportunity for anyone who stayed out of the contest due to the original YouTube-based judging to make an entry and participate, we'd like to extend the window of submission until the original judging date of August 31st (6 days from now).  This is also an opportunity for anyone who's already submitted to further tweak or improve your current entries if you'd like.  The judging should take place within a few days after that. Anyone who makes any attempt to privately communicate with any of the judges before the judging takes place will be automatically disqualified regardless of the content of their communication. Also, since we're trying to fix past oversights with the rules, we'd like to take this opportunity to clarify some things that weren't made explicit in the previously posted rules.
Any sound effects in the submitted video should originate from the Spriter animation (sound effects should play back with the animation in Spriter) You may have background music as long as either you (or your team) created it or you have the rights to use it. Judging will be based only on visuals (and use of sound effects, if applicable) but not on background music. No post production video effects other than simple fades from one animation to another.  Please avoid any effects that might be mistaken for part of the animation created in Spriter. Don't worry if you have doubts about your already submitted entry breaking one of these clarified rules - all current entries will be allowed as they are. All original rules aside from judging, prizes, and the clarifications made in this post still apply (see original post in this thread for reference) As a thank you for agreeing to the rule change, we'll also increase the total prize pool to allow two additional prize winners, and a slight increase to second and third prize:
The Grand Prize of $1,000.00 USD Second place Prize of $400.00 USD Third Place Prize of $300.00 USD Fourth Place Prize of $200.00 USD Fifth Place Prize of $100.00 USD We can only enact these rule changes if all the current entrants agree to it.   To make this as simple and painless as possible, if you agree to this rule change please like this post (using the like button on the bottom right of the post ().  Once we have every participant in agreement, we can make the changes official.

We (BrashMonkey) can't make any promises, because it depends on a unanimous agreement from all contestants..but it's possible the contest will be given a new, extended window for submissions, so you might wan't to finish this in the mean-time just in case. But again, we can't promise what other people will agree too, so don't do the work if it's not rewarding enough just to get it done... even if the contest does not re-open for submissions.

    cheers.

EDIT: You no longer need to have anything specific in the YouTube description.  If you entered before the rule change, please edit your description to remove the previously required text. (recommended and appreciated, but not required - we just don't want to confuse the viewing public)

Click here to view and vote on contest entries.

EDIT: Please note, submission videos should include only visuals created by you and/or your direct team members and only visual effects/animations created in Spriter. Screen recording of you clicking or navigating the Spriter interface or your OS to show the finished animation(s) is also allowed. Please do not show recorded game or engine footage or post-processed video effects not made in Spriter. The only allowed exceptions to this are the simple fades that YouTube adds automatically if you submit your animations as a slide-show.

To submit your video on YouTube, you first need to get it into a video format suitable for upload.  We will describe a method to directly upload a gif exported from Spriter, but feel free to also use your favorite screencapture software.  There is also a free version of Bandicam that is simple to use.
With any screencapture software, just press play in Spriter and click each of your animations (one or more) and allow it to play for a few seconds.   If, like Bandicam, your capture software allows you to select a portion of the screen to capture, you may wish to only select the canvas area, or a box around your character.   This is allowed, but not required.

If you do not want to use video capture software, you may use YouTube's slideshow feature to display gifs exported directly from Spriter if your animations are 10 seconds long or shorter.  I will post instructions on how to do this at the end of the post.

    YouTube Submission Instructions:
Here is how you should submit your entry (regardless of whether you capture it or create a slideshow on YouTube):
There are no requirements for the title, as long as it doesn't contain any offensive or inappropriate language. EDIT: You no longer need to have anything specific in the YouTube description.  If you entered before the rule change, please edit your description to remove the previously required text. (recommended and appreciated, but not required - we just don't want to confuse the viewing public) Make sure the video is set to public. And when you're all finished, press Publish. Go to the official contest entry playlist and add your video.  Click the Continue button on the blue banner that says Add to this playlist as <Your Username Here> and then click the Add videos button on the bottom right to add your entry to the playlist.  Finally, come back to the submission thread, and post a reply to the thread with the name of your submission.  Also paste a link to the YouTube video, which should automatically embed it into your post. Share your video with everyone you know and tell them about the contest!

The following information is only needed if you're not planning on using screenrecording software.

Uploading Spriter exported gifs using YouTubes Slideshow feature:
If you want to have YouTube directly convert your gifs into a video using the YouTube's Slideshow feature, understand there will be a 10 second limit, per animation, imposed by the limitations of the Slideshow.

    Exporting your gif:
Select a background color that looks good for your character, or if you prefer, leave the default gray. Go to File | Export Animation To PNG/GIF... Set the fps to a maximum of approximately 30. Make sure to check 'Fill Background With Current Canvas Background'.  If you do not, the background will default to black upon uploading. Make sure you have set your output file options to 'animated gif'   For more information about the remaining export options, refer to the Help menu within Spriter.

Once you've exported each of your animations to a gif, here's how you upload them to YouTube as a slideshow.
First, make sure you're logged in.
Click the Upload button next to your avatar and notifications icon. Click the 'Create' button under 'Photo slideshow'

Click on Upload photos Name the album whatever you wish Select all of the exported gifs in your folder, and drag them into the drop area. On the next screen you'll have the option to 'add more photos' or click 'next' to continue.

Check the box next to 'No audio; Set the 'Slide duration' to '10 seconds' Set the 'Slide effect' to 'None' Select a Transition type. Click on Upload.

After that, follow the YouTube Submission Instructions above for the remaining steps.

Hi! I'm actually a very long time user, preordered Spriter when first heard of it.
And only now I'm in a real need for a 2d skeletal animations tool.
But it worries me a lot - Is Spriter abandoned by its Devs? Last Blog post is dated 2015, and almost nothing changed on API side of things.
Am I better to count it as a loss and go Spine?

We're very much still active... mostly with customer service, the creation of additional art packs, some other cool stuff I can't currently talk about, and the (sadly still early) development of Spriter 2, which will be a free upgrade for all Spriter Pro owners.

An update build for Spriter should be arriving in the not too distant future as well.
