Mike at BrashMonkey got a reaction from madbim in Spriter Awesome Boss Contest! $1000 Grand Prize! Official Rules
The time has come! It's now August 31 and the original rules are now void! The sole contestant who has not replied regarding the new rules would not have won a prize based on the original rules so we are free to resurrect the contest using the new rules and our great 3 human judges.
I'm re-opening the submission thread now. Any new contestants or people who updated their animations, be sure to get your submission video added to the thread (
) and playlist BEFORE Midnight (just before it becomes September 1st)!
Best of luck to everyone!

Spriter Release 9
Released 8/30/2016
Additions and Enhancements
Windows version now has access to an additional gig of RAM. Solves black image issue for very large projects. Added the ability to set a bounding box for animations using an automatic bounding box calculation Crash detection now extends until the program is successfully closed (rather than just after successful program startup) You can now nudge a pivot point one approximate pixel at a time using the arrow keys in the pivot point widget Canvas now updates changes from the pivot point widget in real time when character maps are active Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that could cause certain projects to fail to save a spritesheeted version if the project used nested subdirectories Fixed a bug where changes made by editing a subentity's properties through the object widget would revert after unfocusing the object widget Fixed bug that resulted in scrubbing playing a split-second of the start of an audio clip when doing slow pixel by pixel audio scrubbing or scrubbing with snapping on Fixed a bug where exporting pngs/gifs would export any active onion skins Fixed a bug where it was possible for pixel art mode to sometimes save unrounded values. Now also attempts to repair unrounded values from previous version upon loading as well. Fixed a bug where children of IK locked parent bones would inherit properties even if that property's inheritance was disabled Fixed a bug where metadata (variables and tags) keys would disappear if moved while the metadata timelines were collapsed Fixed a bug where the resize (drag arrow) controls for changing animation bounding boxes would zoom along with the canvas Fixed a bug where resizing a project would round all image sizes down. Now rounds image sizes to the nearest integer. Fixed a bug where resizing a project would save the original image sizes in the 'file' section of the scml/scon file Fixed bug where holding shift to use proportional scaling while resizing objects in canvas would cause erratic behavior or crashes if the pivot points were too close to the edge of the bounding box being dragged Fixed a bug where object properties widget cut off text on Windows machines with high DPI display Fixed a bug where points which were children of parent bones with negative width or height would display their angles incorrectly -

The deadline for the original contest is the morning of the 31st.. So long as Eternai is not winning a prize in the original contest, the new deadline will be before midnight on the 31st.. so a 12 hour window max. get any new submission ready and on YouTube asap so you don't miss the new window.

EDIT: EDIT: We are now down to one contestants left who's not agreed to the rule change.
Hi Everyone,
We're making every effort to contact and get replies from the remaining contestants regarding the desired rule change (email, private messages, and YouTube comment posting ). However, we are now down to 2 contestants who've not yet resurfaced to weigh in on the judging rule change. @EternaL, if you're reading this, please respond or click "Like this" on Lucid's rules change proposal post here: https://brashmonkey.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4758-spriter-awesome-boss-contest-1000-grand-prize-official-rules/&page=3#comment-16283
If, by the 31st there are still any contestants who have not agreed to the new rule change, and if those contestants were not eligible for any of the three original prizes, what we can then do is consider that contest void (because it now officially has no ill effect on those who did not agree to the change) and then simply proceed with the new rules that the remaining contestants all agreed to (using our awesome actual human judges to judge based on merit).
BTW, we noticed that one of the remaining people who had not agreed to the rule change actually removed their entry from the contest and the playlist without otherwise letting us know. If any of the remaining people wish to bow out of the contest regardless of which rules are chosen, please notify us or even better, click the like button in the new rules post linked to above (as that's the easiest way for us to track who has not yet agreed to the new rules).
To those who are hoping to add their animations to the contest, while we can't promise anything, due to the current situation it's looking to us, more likely than not that we will be able to adopt the new rules. You can certainly consider finishing your potential entries before the 31st so long as you understand there's no guarantee the rule change will happen. Obviously it's a decision that each person should make on their own based on their available time and keeping in mind, we might not hear back from the remaining contestants until either there's little or no time left (to finish your animation) after the rule change becomes official. (if it does)

Mike at BrashMonkey reacted to 2D|PIXX in My Spriter Stuff ;)
So I have been spending my Saturday drawing some characters and creating rough animations with them. Spriter is really awesome and I am having a lot of fun with the software.
Time to show some results. Critique is always welcome. Enjoy your time!

Thanks for your patience, everyone. I'm about to unlock the thread. Please make sure you've read Lucid's post (above) thoroughly before replying and though we will not censor, I'm asking and hoping we can avoid further accusations and arguments and hopefully bring this back to a friendly competition where only the quality of the art matters.
thanks again.

We (BrashMonkey) can't make any promises, because it depends on a unanimous agreement from all contestants..but it's possible the contest will be given a new, extended window for submissions, so you might wan't to finish this in the mean-time just in case. But again, we can't promise what other people will agree too, so don't do the work if it's not rewarding enough just to get it done... even if the contest does not re-open for submissions.
cheers.

We're a little late to the party but quite excited to present our version of an "awesome boss", Lord William GreasyWheel.
We had a few ideas and it was difficult to choose a direction since the theme was broad. But hey, that was half the fun and we're happy with how this little guy turned out.
We hope you enjoy it as much as we did working on it.
A lot of thanks to Brashmonkey for the awesome piece of software that is Spriter, and for this contest which was a nice distraction from our main project.
Keep rocking! Good luck everyone!

This robotic sea dragon boss is made to mimic the NES 8-bit restrictions and limitations, so he'd be made mostly out of animated tiles with sprites used for various effects and details.
Enjoy!
