  1. I don't think we getting Spriter 2 anytime soon are we? How many years we will wait any ETA on it? Has it become a vapor-ware?

Thanks for the hard-work but its been just too many times and years we been waiting for it.

Version 0.0.0.30 only after so many years..How many more versions?Every 2 weeks we only get +0.0.0.01 version upgrade .now if we count by the version number releases, lets calculate when it will reach 1.0 releasese version. Hmmm in unknown future:blink:. Are you facing planning problems? Or real life is huge mess? Even an asset on unity asset store gets production faster than this from a kid.

Does existence of software like spine or such just makes u feel you not going to make  it? Sorry about ranting but man how about promise something that you can keep? Keep your own words? False promise will drive away customers. I previously mentioned how spine coming to the market after you took the industry away from you. Even the COA tools from blender by one man does lot of things.

Don't get me wrong but someone needs to point out what you guys could have done and what you are at now.

Sorry again for ranting but I think spriter won't see the light of the day and when it does there will be no need of it who knows.

    Regards,

    jony-A frustrated customer

  2. There are lot of other funding and etc option to make things easier. Marketing and funding have changed lot since the time you guys released spriter. I am just mentioning these so we get spriter 2 soon enough to be able to use it. Good luck.

BTW, I was wondering if  the complete overhaul of UI does not work in user favour what you guys going to do? Reminds of my professor saying: "always design things for user not for yourself".

  3. I will be just leaving this here. Its a comparison of what you guys achieved being earlier than spine. And what spine achieved being late than you guys and have become the industry standard. It would have been you guys who could become the leaders of this industry. Don't know what went wrong but it is what it is atm sadly. Companies ask do you know spine for jobs? No one asking how well I know spriter. People are forced to use spine to be able to earn from jobs using this kind of software for animation. Hope that changes with spriter 2. Eagerly and impatiently waiting for it.

I think its support. You need to hire customer support. Only 2 people is not enough. Maybe needs more marketing. Either way its late to move people from spine maybe? Since people spent lot of time learning it? I really want Spriter 2 to be a strong contender against spine 2D. Its monopoly by Esoteric Software when it comes to skeletal animation.

It's been six years since this request and Godot has taken off massively!

Any news on Godot support in Spriter?

here is ur reply to godot

As you see its for hobbyists only who never want to earn or do anything professionally with Godot. I also myself spent 6 months on it. While the engine is awesome but to be able to make a commercial product with it you need to know the game engine architecture.

So the picture tells it all. Yes it is awesome. yes it is open source. But when you don't get much help/resources needed to make what you want to make, then all those awesome stuff vanishes in thin air.

  5. Btw will I be able to open spriter 1 files with spriter 2 right? I mean we got so many spriter projects saved on spriter 1.

Also can you write detailed guide how to enable or disable weapons or trigger effects on spriter 2 animated files in unity?

Example : Say i have a player who can switch weapons. I want idle animation with weapon and w/o weapon. Play sound effects when i fire gun. Play slash sound etc. Or maybe enable weapon if I find certain weapon and now the Idle animation and other animations are all with that gun/weapon holding in the players hand.

Also how many features we going to get as shown here in spriter2/alchemist?

  6. Also, you mentioned that you will be releasing official unity support on release of spriter 2? Do you still plan to do that? After using Godot for long, I realized unity is the to go engine for making any commercial games or freelance work due to the vast amount of resources available and help you get when getting stuck. Also, industry standard right now is UNITY/UNREAL engine unless you are just a hobbyist. I hope there will be unity plugin on release. I mean what is the use of making animation in Spriter  if you can't export the skeletons and JSON data to that engine you are using. Also please check the performance issues of the plugin for engine support. Currently with Spriter pro all animations are not working smoothly.

I was wondering why you guys not so well known and why not many people use spriter for their animation but prefers Spine:2D animation for games even though its costlier. I think spine has  better support for game engines export or something? Maybe you need more team members for speed things up? You know my mentor said that don't try to do everything by yourself. Outsource or etc. In the end it is going to save lot more time or bring more profit than what you are doing right now.

If it keeps like this we gonna loose customer. People going to buy spine/creature/moho/etc others even though its more costly. They  have bigger team and more support. Yes i love spriter and what spriter 2 is going to bring. But the support factor is the biggest thing for product like this. Why you guys burning your self up?

Anyways good luck to you. I have taken already lot of time to write various comments. You need to figure things out.

All Spriter Pro owners have access to the Spriter 2 alpha builds which are now updated on a roughly 2 week schedule. We're really sorry for all the long delays to this point and are developing it as fast as we can while simultaneously making sure we don't rush any aspect of it's data format or code base in a way that would cripple it's development in the future.  There should be an update any moment now with information on what's currently being worked on and a new build shortly after that. We're doing our best to provide frequent update  builds and progress reports as we work towards getting all the core features fully functionally and tied in with each other and the required UI as soon as we can.

We have big plans for features and expansions well beyond the release of version 1.0, which is a big part of why it took us so long to get to this point (making sure the core code and data format are future-proof and will easily support the more advanced features we plan down the line.)

Will we be getting it this year or nope? How many more years we need to wait? Can you not get someone from community to help you guys? Example someone else to make detailed tutorials on how to use it or help you on code? There are also lot of affordable people to hire from fiver and etc websites.

  8. Can you release spriter 2 already? Or you have lost interest in this software? Btw was wondering what happens when you at some point stop developing this software? Since its closed source no one else can access it.

  9. Well the wait time for Spriter 2 has been really long. Any estimated release date? For now I am just using free software called Dragonbones for my needs.Making errors in Spriter Pro is currently very unforgiving and takes long time to fix it. And Johndose is right. Instead of supporting engines which already have the software or feature they need support the ones which are quite popular but don't have the features that spriter 2 going to have. Also making sure spriter 2 with alchemist gonna be game changer to make people use them. It takes time to learn particular software and to master it  takes much longer. Since time is money and irreplaceable people tend to stick with software which they already know. Maybe then your sales would increase and you will have easier time to do the rest. BTW, I am not sure people using unity will even bother to use spriter 2. They have anima2D as well as skeletal tool with the latest update. Maybe a waste of your time of making support of unity or maybe not. Its a gamble with unity. Same with other engines you mentioned.

Also there are not much tutorials on everything you can do with your softwares like Pro motion NG or even spriter. Is it possible for you guys to make constant updates and show tips and tricks how to achieve cool stuff and how? Thanks!

Well all the best to your team and hope you can deliver it. If it was an open source software just like Godot game engine then Patreon would be great platform to support you.
