Is there a reason the bones have a scale applied to them when you create them at the length you need?

The way you have it implemented now, a bone seems to have a default length, and any bone drawn at a different length is considered scaled.

I would think instead, the bone should be considered at scale 100% when you first draw it, no matter the size. Any changes to its size from that point forward could be considered a scale change.

Am I thinking about this wrong? Is there a reason you've done it this way?
