copilot
Hi, I'm new to Spriter. I'd like to make a 2D top-down spaceshooter. I'm wondering if I can use Spriter to create animations for spaceships. I have spritesheets (e.g. explosions, thrusters). I'd like to import them into Spriter. When I import the png spritesheet it appears as a large single image. Any suggestions on how I can achieve that? Thanks, -copilot DarrenOl

Thanks, -copilot Hi, If you're referring to something like this one below, as far as I know Spriter is a software to create spritesheets from individual sprites and does not support importing them. However, you can import redy-to-go sprite sheets like the one above into platforms and game engines like Unity. and there you can animate them. Spriter is a tool more focused on creating these kind of sprite sheets using the external images which are also created within 3rd party illustration softwares. Regarding your specific case, if you have a sprite sheet in PNG format with transparent background, you can slice the it into "frames" (individual images) within another image editin software and then import them into Spriter to create animations. Mike at BrashMonkey
Hi copilot, Spriter currently only supports importing a specific format of texturepacker created sprite sheets: Maybe if you first load those sprite sheets into texture packer and somehow export them to the required format Spriter can recognize... Billy Quith
Hi, what is the format of the Texture Packer JSON output file that Spriter Pro understands when importing spritesheets please? You mention it in the video above. I already have spritesheet tools and do not require Texture Packer. I would like to be able to use my already packed sprite sheets in Spriter Pro. I would like to import a pack sprite sheet, animate the parts and then export just sprite animation data. Thanks. Edited December 9, 2015 by Billy Quith clarification.
