Dredok
I would like to hear best practices recommendations for using character maps, to adapt our art pipeline (we are two and very newbie to 2D). Should the images be exactly the same size? can the pivot points change?
Mike at BrashMonkey
Hi Dredok, Image size is not required for Character maps to work but makes things much easier to set up (for example by copying and pasting of the default pivot points of the original images to the pivot points of the replacement images ) The key is to make sure that the default pivot points are in the same type of spot...for example, if you're replacing one set of head images with a smaller or larger set of images, the character map should work fine so long as all default pivot points are located exactly at the base of the skull where the neck attaches etc. What do you mean by "can the pivot points change?".... I recommend you only set a default pivot point initially for each image (before ever beginning animating) and then make sure the default pivot points for the new images that will be applied via char-maps have matching default pivot points (not matching in actual pixel coordinate...matching in "anatomical" placement) I hope this all makes sense. cheers, Mike at BrashMonkey
