Hi everyone,

Thank you all very much for your patience. We are not yet at Spriter 1.0 but are getting very close, and this new build has some great new features (and several bug-fixes) that we hope you'll find helpful and worth the wait.

Here's two quick videos showcasing Spriter B9's new features:

And here is a change-log of all that's been done for this new build:

Spriter v9 prerelease (beta)

Released 7/22/2014

Additions and Enhancements

[*:wd0ipc80]Added TexturePacker spritesheet generation and automation. Generate spritesheets from your project assets straight from Spriter in any format imaginable (with a ton of options) through powerful integration with TexturePacker's command line tool. This is a Spriter Pro only feature, and requires you to have TexturePacker and the accompanying TexturePacker command line tool installed.
Automation not available on 32 bit Linux, as there is no 32bit Linux version of TexturePacker
[*:wd0ipc80]Added the ability to navigate through json spritesheets generated by TexturePacker as if they were ordinary folders of images within Spriter
[*:wd0ipc80]Added Spriter Pro exclusive Advanced Animation Cloning. The '...' button next to the clone button on the animation widget opens the Advanced Clone Dialog.
[*:wd0ipc80]Added animated gif export. Using the same dialog and options as Export to PNG, generate animated gifs to easily share your creations online, or create animations for your website or gif compatible game engine
[*:wd0ipc80]Added the zoom shortcuts(Ctrl-Space and Ctrl-Alt-Space) to the timeline.
[*:wd0ipc80]Decreased the vertical space the palette and animation widgets take up.

Changes

[*:wd0ipc80]Changed Spriter's missing image behavior to not save missing image placeholders. The original behavior confused users, and this also fixes a bug where files could be overwritten if you were switching back quickly between saving in image editing software like Adobe Photoshop, and then refreshing images immediately in Spriter.
[*:wd0ipc80]Changed Export to PNG/GIF Dialog to request the filename after you choose the export options.

Bug Fixes

[*:wd0ipc80]Fixed a bug that would trim to rect and animation incorrectly when Exporting to Png for animations that never overlap the origin.
[*:wd0ipc80]Fixed a bug that didn't round pixels in Pixel Art Mode at 1x zoom.
[*:wd0ipc80]Fixed a bug that would shift object positions when changing the default pivot point.
[*:wd0ipc80]Fixed a a file palette bug that made the sort button not function.
[*:wd0ipc80]Fixed a Mac specific bug that made the arrow key shortcuts to nudge an object a single pixel not function.

Spriter B9 introduces additional library dependencies that were not in previous versions. This can sometimes lead to compatibility issues. If the pre-release doesn't run on your computer, please report the issue at B9 bug thread where you can also revert to the most recent beta version if needed.

At long last, the remaining features from our original Spriter Pro 1.0 features list that need to be implemented before the initial release of 1.0 has dwindled down to just one! (The ability to use guide images and grids.) Which will be appearing in the next build release...along with continued bug fixes and general improvements of course.

There are many more great features we have planned for Spriter 1.0, which will continue to appear as frequently as possible in the foreseeable future after the initial release. These additional features will be a high priority during and after the creation of full data format documentation and example implementation code, and while we simultaneously direct more time and resources towards helping the developers and communities of all game authoring systems to perfect full Spriter support for each of them.

A large amount of the delay of this new build was in fact due to a lot of foundational work I've been doing, for several complex future features as well as working on the Spriter data format documentation. So, while we cant promise a specific delivery time, I can say I've made excellent progress on both fronts and will update you all on this as soon possible.

Please bear with us during this last sprint toward the first release of Spriter 1.0, because while there's only one official feature left to go, we still have many improvements planned, and in massive amount of time is demanded for non-development related duties, such as documentation, tutorials, working with other developers, marketing, etc.

And lastly, we are aware we have some reported bugs from the previous release that haven't been fixed yet. Due to the long delay, we wanted to release a new version as soon as possible, but you don't need to report any bugs you've already reported for Spriter B8_2.

Thanks as always for your patience and support, and enjoy the new build!
