Hello everyone.  Here's a new Spriter release with a couple of minor additions and several important bug fixes.  Enjoy!

    Download here

    Spriter Release 11
    Released 4/20/2017
    Additions and Enhancements
Added pro feature to allow you to set background guide images per animation. It's impossible to accidentally move or edit the background images unless you enter the guide image editing mode. Guide image information is saved in a way that will be ignored by external implemenations and Spriter's own spritesheet generation. Hovering over metadata keys (variables and tags) now reveals their data Changes
Spriter will now prevent you from attempting to export to png/gif with an invalid custom rect source or target size (previously exited the dialog without exporting) Added option to right-click to rename in the z-order and hierarchy panes Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where moving animations from one entity to another would result in missing objects if the target entity already contained those objects Fixed a crash that would occur upon closing the edit variable dialog if a key was double clicked to open it and then that key was removed in the dialog Fixed a bug where variable keys couldn't be created in new animations created after the new variable was added Fixed a bug where if a project was loaded with an entity that contained a variable, keys for that variable couldn't be created in animations that didn't already have at least one key Fixed a bug that allowed you to drag an animation containing a sub-entity into the entity it was using as a sub-entity. This would corrupt the animation, as entities cannot be sub-entities of themselves Fixed a bug that would cause objects to incorrectly update angles on multiple keys after being drag/dropped under certain circumstances Fixed a bug where copy and pasting pivot points wouldn't work in certain situations Fixed several bugs and a crash when moving animations from one entity to another under certain conditions Spriter now attempts to automatically repair broken file associations that would cause default pivot points to reset to the top-left corner

Hi guys! This is my entry:
This is the first time i've used Spriter, ever. The total work time for the graphics and animations is around 6 hours. The monster design was originally intended for the team's upcoming game Caos Trigger: Golem; but the kickstarter for it never got funded so i still went ahead and created the monster anyway.
Best of luck to all the contestants!

XRumerTest reacted to dolfiz in Char map - Drag&drop does not work
    Hi all,

I've used Spriter for few months now and I still experience what it seems an erratic bug, but I'm not sure.

Sometimes, when I use character map, drag&drop simply does not work. I click on my defined char map on the right panel (available) and drag it to the left panel (active); when I release the mouse button the dragged element just moves back to the right panel and both the list remain unchanged (with the "active" one empty). I must admit that this behavior is a little bit erratic, and sometimes all it works good.

    So, the questions:
    - is it possible that I'm doing something wrong?
    - is there a precise position where I had to click and release in order to make the drag&drop work?
    - can other reasons be behind this weird behavior (what I've selected on the main window or something like this)?
    - does the position/size of the floating char map window matter?

By the way, right now I'm using Spriter 4.1 on MacOS Yosemite (I'm not able to test it on a different OS right now but I'll try as soon as I can).

Thank you for every suggestion you can give me.

    Hey guys,

I'm new to Spriter and I have a question.

Say I complete an animation using some 8 PNG files.

Is there a way to change those PNG files, by using other files with the same name, in order to replicate the animation but with a different set of images?

Hopefully there's a way to do this quickly as it would save me some time.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Tanks

    Hi Everyone,

As you might have noticed, we've upgraded to a totally new forums system.  The migration seems to have gone off without a hitch, but there's the possibility that if you posted during the 30 minute window in which we were migrating that your post ended up in the old forums and didn't make it over here.

For anyone with a missing post, for a limited time you can actually access the old forum by going here: http://www.brashmonkey.com/forumOLD and copy the text from your post so you can easily repost it into the new forum.  If this is required I apologize for the inconvenience.

    cheers,

Hey guys what if spriter would have rotating algorithm like this software?
    http://info.sonicretro.org/RotSprite
Do you think it could be done? It preserves shapes perfectly, maybe if you would contact developer then he would share how he did it and it could be implemented in spriter so pixel art animating would be even better.
    Just look at examples:

This is other program SolarStrings rotater which also rotates sprites preserving details and shapes + whats most important - source code is available for lookup and maybe create something similar

In my opinion having something like solarstrings rotater as option to rotate sprites would be great, even if its not used in realtime during opengl preview but only when exporting.

The library has now support for calculating the bounding box for a whole animation.

You can also manipulate the calculating by setting the starting bone.
This enables the ability to cull parts from an animation. I hope this is an useful feature.

Spriter seems pretty cool. If I can get it to do what I need without a lot of work than I know I will purchase it. But I am creating a 2D game engine and wondered if there are any code out there that will load the Spriter file into my engine and allow me to do all the animations and such. Thanks.
